With the rising violence in today's society, the debate over the rhetoric of the Second Amendment continues to take place. Basically, it comes down to the fact that the authors of the Second Amendment were not as clear in their wording as our government would have liked. Was this amendment created to protect the right of individuals to own firearms or was it to ensure that our military have the necessary weapons to maintain a strong defense?

I completely agree with you! Gun ownership is a 2nd Amendment given right. If the government were to take away that freedom, I truly believe that crime would increase exponentially. Without that safety net of a firearm, many people would become scared, knowing that a criminal could attack them at any time with almost no fear of retaliation. Most criminals achieve possession of a firearm illegally anyways which leads to the question, "how do you control them?" All in all, great points! Could not have said it better myself.
This is a really controversial issue, and I think it's great that you've started a blog to discuss it!
